Only a few times in our life do we have a chance to truly make history on a grand scale. Rarely do we have an opportunity to leave a lasting impression that will linger in our collective memory for generations.
The Travis Letter from the Alamo is not only a Texas treasure, but one of the great, defining documents of American history. Noted historian Stephen Hardin described it as “one of the nation’s truly remarkable letters.”
Yet, due to the priceless nature of this Texas treasure, the costs for this exhibit event and the ongoing outreach program are significant. After the letter has returned to Austin for safekeeping, it is our hope the impact of the letter continues through innovative education outreach programs including teacher's guides, lesson plans and more.
If you are interested in supporting the Travis Letter Returns project, please please make a contribution today. Contributions to the Travis Letter Returns project can be made through the San Antonio Area Foundation website.
Interested in a larger or in-kind donation, please contact the Texas General Land Office at 512.936.9582.
Thank you for your support!
